Link Building and its Varieties

Link Building is an important tool to improve a websites position in the online market. Link building helps a website to increase customers interest on the website. Under link building services, the topics covered include; what are the steps that can be taken to increase traffic? what are the steps’ that can be taken to improve website ranking in search engines? Effective link building allows websites to create quality inbound links that ultimately helps them to not just make people aware of their content, importance of websites as well as increases the page rank of the website with respect to search conducted on search engines with relevant keywords.

Websites can gain link popularity and as such higher rank in search engines courtesy competitive keywords. Keywords are words that are most searched on a search engine and are relevant to a website and generate more links. For a website selling landscaping and gardening supplies, competitive keywords like landscaping and gardening products and existence of their variations can help in creating links for the websites. These links ultimately bring in more traffic as people who are interested in purchasing these products will invariably come to the website. Websites can have these types of links usually through negotiation or mutual agreement. These links in turn help websites to generate business. As a result, the higher the number of links’; websites will gain better search engine ranking. Search engines however take into account not just the number of links, but also type of links before giving ranks.

Search engines consider two main things before giving rank to websites. One is that links that come to a website from other popular websites, deserve higher rankings; the other being that some search engines check the website content that are relevant to a website and the search made in search engines. As such gardening websites should have content about gardening and related items in order to get higher ranking on gardening related keywords. Websites can gain quality and relevant links mainly through Reciprocal Links or Two Way Links under which there is not just one link that is established from other websites to the website, its a link exchange process; under which websites exchange trade links with prospective partner websites. This is a much faster way for websites to establish links to other websites in a short time. Websites can also gain quality and relevant links through ‘One Way Links’ also called Incoming links or Non-Reciprocal Links. Incoming links do not require websites to link back to them.

Deep Linking

Deep linking is nothing but creating a hyperlink on a website that points to a particular page or image on another website, in the vast expanse of the internet, rather than the websites’ own home page. However deep links cant be differentiated with other links, as all links are functionally equal, making it difficult to figure out the masking. Deep linking being controversial can be mostly avoided, by configuring the server to check the referring URL. Even there are some websites are there, which object to the creation of deep links into their content, first sent a cease and desist notice regarding the deep links on their website, later charge the link creator for creating such deep links, even if valid.

Now-a-days websites are being built using web technologies such as AJAX or Adobe Flash that do not support deep linking, however this has created usability problems for online visitors visiting those websites; as websites created using technologies restrict the online visitors from saving the bookmarks of a particular page on the website. However, as with every technology, when there is any limitation, a loophole or addition allows the successful achieving the result. As such by using techniques like SWFAddress, website creators using Flash or AJAX to create a website allow deep linking services on the website. To find out how many deep links have been created to a website, it is better to calculate the number of inbound links to a particular website, and divide it with the number of outbound links coming out from the website. In this way the user can get the deep link ratio to his website.
